As has been previously reported, the rear-drive FT-86 is a joint development project between Subaru and Toyota, which purchased GM’s nine-percent share of Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru’s parent company) in 2005 and then upped its holding to 16 percent in 2008. Toyota unveiled the Subaru-powered 2+2 FT-86 coupe concept at the 2009 Tokyo auto show, but since then there’s been nothing concrete to discuss as engineers have gone to work doing their engineering thing.

Whether you’re the family chauffer or a racing enthusiast, we have you covered inside and out with the best and brightest Toyota parts that add a special look and feel.

The 2012 Toyota Camry ranks 14 out of 19 Affordable Midsize Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 14 published reviews and test drives of the Toyota Camry, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
Auto reviewers think Toyota made the best-selling Camry even better with a redesign for 2012 thanks to its excellent fuel economy, refined performance and high-quality interior.
Test drivers like the redesigned 2012 Toyota Camry for its roomy interior, best-in-class non-hybrid, non-diesel fuel economy, relaxed ride and smooth engines. With the changes for 2012, most reviewers expect the Camry to retain its position as one of the best-selling cars in the class.
The automotive press says the 2012 Camry gives shoppers a good mix of comfort, engine power, interior space and technology. They’re glad Toyota made improvements where necessary and left other areas that didn’t need tweaking unchanged. Motor Trend says, “Besides being a best-seller, it has arguably been the best car in its class for 20 years, so improvements tend to be incremental, not phenomenal, like those of the ’08 Chevy Malibu, ’10 Ford Fusion, ’11 Hyundai Sonata, and possibly the ’12 VW Passat.”
The main gripe reviewers have with the 2012 Toyota Camry is its redesigned exterior. Although they think it looks better than the 2011 model, they still note that the Camry has a conservative, bland look. While some say they wish Toyota would make the Camry a little more edgy, they understand that bold styling might limit the Camry’s mass-market appeal.
If you’re shopping for a roomy, capable, fuel-efficient midsize sedan, auto reviewers say the 2012 Camry is definitely worth a test drive.

Toyota is thought of as one of the most complete automakers worldwide. Their run of success is a testament to not only the efficiency and performance of the vehicles themselves, but also to the stylish presence they all seem to hold. It is well-known that this is one brand where drivers get a huge say in how their rides look. Toyota Spoilers always seem to be at the top of the list for this very reason. CARiD.com carries the most vaunted selection of Toyota Spoilers you will find anywhere. That isn’t a secret. The reason we’re so popular with Toyota drivers is because we understand what it is you’re going for. It doesn’t matter if it is racing-attitude, rockstar fashion, or a subtly luxurious compliment – we are front-and-center with the style of Toyota Spoiler you’re on the lookout for. Your Toyota Spoiler can be counted on to come from the highest-quality possible. Because we work with the most respected manufacturers in the business, each spoiler is guaranteed to last through the harshest elements, be a simple installation, and provide a lockdown OEM fit. We’ll even help you find the exact factory color you need. No one knows better than we do what it means to be on the trail for the ultimate upgrades that put a smile on your face. That’s why we don’t play around. Your Toyota is always in the spotlight at CARiD.com!

Just as Toyota seemed to find its footing after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, a painful jump in the yen weighed on its third-quarter profits. Also, a shortage of parts from flooded suppliers in Thailand led the company to scrap its outlook.
Toyota said Nov. 8 that its profit fell 19 percent to 80.4 billion yen, or $1 billion, in the July-September quarter. It said a surge in the yen, which nervous global investors consider a haven, weighed on overseas profit. Sales for the quarter fell 4.8 percent to 4.6 trillion yen, or $57 billion, the company said in a statement.
The uncertainty pushed Toyota to withdraw its forecast for the financial year ending in March to give it more time to assess the damage from the Thai floods, which have taken a humanitarian and economic toll on the Southeast Asian manufacturing hub. Toyota previously said it expected to earn 390 billion yen in the year.
The problems seem likely to knock Toyota out of the spot as the world’s biggest automaker and push it behind General Motors and Volkswagen, which have been able to fill a void left by Japanese automakers since the natural disasters in Japan in March.
For Toyota, which still manufactures about 40 percent of its cars in Japan, costs from the rising yen are especially damaging. It has said it remains committed to making about three million cars a year in Japan, though it sells fewer than half that many in a shrinking domestic market.

In the United States, the best selling compact pickup truck for years has been the Toyota Tacoma. In 2010, the “indestructible” pickup sold more than 106,000 which was more than its closest competitor by nearly two-to-one. For the 2012 model year, as North American Toyota is getting back into its stride with 100 percent production, they plan to continue that right-size truck success with an extensive refresh. The exterior, interior and media features may be new, but inside the 2012 Tacoma is still the ‘never-fail’ Toyota it has been for decades.
Differences between the 2012 and 2011 can first be seen on the outside. The front end has been revised as every panel from the A-pillar forward is tweaked. The hood has been sculpted to offer better visibility. The head lights are much more shapely than before, now resembling a pair of eyes. The grille has been retooled to share a similar appearance to the Tacoma’s big brother, the Tundra and the front bumper now features up-to-date integrated fog lights. In all, it is still a Tacoma but now looks more mature and less adolescent.
The interior has also received a special reworking. The instrument gauge cluster is sleeker than before and now integrates with sharper center console. The biggest upgrade for 2012 can be found inside that center console as Toyota’s “Entune” multimedia system is now available. Offered on DoubleCab V6 models, Entune connects a driver’s smartphone to the Tacoma, making most of its features available by hands-free voice recognition. Bing, Pandora Radio, real time traffic, weather and fuel prices can all be accessed via Entune. A JBL sourced stereo system is included with Sirius XM satellite radio available. And finally offered on a Tacoma is navigation.

Proper vehicle maintenance leads to improved performance, and every driver can relate to that. In order to keep your vehicle humming along with efficiency, sometimes you have to step it up a notch.

At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota peeled back the sheets to finally reveal its 2012 Prius Plug-in production model.
Toyota describes the plug-in hybrid as the “greenest, most technically advanced Prius yet,” and with an electric-only driving range of 14.3 miles, fuel consumption targeted at 112 miles per gallon equivalent and CO2 emissions listed at 49 grams per kilometer, we’re inclined to agree with the Japanese automaker’s bluster.
Unlike currently available Prius hatchbacks, the plug-in version is rechargeable using an electrical connection, rather than only from electricity generated while the vehicle is in motion. Toyota says that after the Prius Plug-in’s 4.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is depleted, the vehicle seamlessly switches to hybrid mode. The Prius Plug-in can be fully recharged in less than 1.5 hours.
On the performance front, the plug-in Prius cranks out 134 horsepower, which Toyota says is sufficient to propel the hybrid hatch from nought to 62 miles per hour in a leisurely 10.7 seconds and onward to a top speed of 112 mph.
Toyota says sales of the Prius Plug-in will start in early 2012 – mainly in Japan, the U.S and Europe – and anticipates annual volume of 50,000 units. The Japanese automaker has yet to announce pricing for the 2012 plug-in, but some reports claim the automaker is targeting a sub-$30,000 price tag.

It all comes down to what you’re into. Some go for rockstar style. Others clamor for the luxurious side of life. Almost everyone wants increased protection. The reasons vary as much as the models. But that’s what makes it interesting! CARiD.com presents an enormous line of Toyota Grills that spark your imagination.

Toyota said on Thursday that it’s going to pull forward the on-sale date for the redesigned 2012 Camry by about two weeks, with cars arriving in showrooms in mid-September.
The on-sale date for the 2012 Camry had been targeted for early October.
In its August sales conference call, Toyota told the media that earlier sales of the 2012 Camry are being made possible because the “sell-down of the 2011 Camry is going extremely well.”
Toyota said it sold 30,185 2011 Camry and Camry Hybrids in August compared with 30,764 in August 2010, a drop of 5.7 percent.
Jeff Bracken, vice president of sales for Toyota’s U.S. division, said that compared to year ago levels, sales were down 16 percent on a daily selling rate basis as “dealers continued to operate with less than ideal inventory levels.”
He said all North American production will return to normal levels in September, for the first time since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
With most of Toyota’s North American plants now running at maximum operating rates, Toyota projects that production for the second half of 2011 will “now actually exceed initial plans.”
Bracken said Toyota dealer inventories should “grow in September for the first time since the twin disasters in Japan disrupted production.”
Toyota is already building the new Camry at its Georgetown, Kentucky factory.
Inside Line says: A bit of good news for those anxious to get their hands on the 2012 Toyota Camry.

Our enthusiast’s Spidey Sense started tingling when we heard about the newest bit of technology employed on the enhanced 2012 Toyota Yaris. It was not a more advanced variable valve timing system; the Yaris’ 1.5-liter engine is carried over and already has an intake cam with adjustable phasing. It was not more cogs gracing a more advanced transmission; the Yaris makes do with a four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual. The suspension is also traditional with struts up front and torsion beam in the rear.
So what was the next great thing?
A mono-arm windshield wiper with washer jets aimed to either side of the big blade. Ah, our Spidie Sense was trying to warn us of an exceptionally dull car. In this world where small, inexpensive cars are becoming more fun – Mazda2 and Fiat 500 anyone – the new Yaris is a yawner.
For normal consumers, however, the 2012 Yaris – available as the L, LE and SE – is a much improved, affordable and economical transportation appliance. It’s the kind of car you’d feel comfortable recommending to a friend’s sister or anyone who thinks of cars as nothing more than subway substitutes.

There’s a difference between being seen and being recognized. Toyota drivers know this concept only too well. And when the time comes to add a little more fire to the mix, Toyota Custom Tail Lights are always a key ingredient. CARiD.Com presents a full line of Toyota Custom Tail Lights in every simmering option around. Toyota LED Tail Lights and Toyota Euro Tail Lights are available in a spectrum of flavors, including Crystal Clear, Red Clear, JDM Black, Platinum Smoke, and more! Toyota LED Tail Lights are often desired for their stronger, more concise glow. And aside from their instant image-boost, Toyota LED Taillights also last longer and are more energy-efficient than OEM bulbs. If you care about your model and want to see it at its best, this is one decision you can’t pass up on!
CARiD showcases the very best manufacturers to ensure the kind of quality Toyota Custom Taillights should be comprised of. Ultra-durable components mean ultimate reliability. Plus, all of our Toyota Custom Taillights are guaranteed to enact a precise OEM fit!

Toyota was busy introducing all flavors of the 2012 Toyota Camry to the media earlier this week, but since all that stuff’s embargoed, there’s not much to tell. Yet. But what isn’t under embargo is this collection of spy photos showing the 2012 Camry Hybrid in its birthday suit while shooting a television commercial.
The new Camry’s familiar roofline communicates practicality overall, but the updated sheetmetal has more crisp lines, with new fascias fore and aft. The hybrid’s grille treatment apes that of the facelifted Highlander Hybrid, and yes, those headlights are indeed the ones Akio Toyoda teased a few weeks ago.
In a nutshell, it’s still a conservative look, but decidedly less frumpy than before. Now, let’s see what changes Toyota‘s made below the surface to bring the Camry in line with the current midsize family-sedan competition.

Whether you’re the family chauffer or a racing enthusiast, we have you covered inside and out with the best and brightest Toyota parts that add a special look and feel. Toyota steering wheels, grilles, headlights, dash kits, floor mats, spoilers, chrome trim, and more are in our inventory at the highest quality on the market. Don’t worry about traveling all over to find what you’re looking for. Just consider CARiD.com your “One Stop” for all Toyota accessories!

Toyota and The Braun Corporation have partnered to provide a unique wedding present to a very special bride. A little over a year ago, Rachelle Friedman was celebrating her bachelorette party when she was pushed into a swimming pool. When she fell, Friedman broke her C6 vertebra and became a quadriplegic in an instant. After 14 months of hospitals, physical therapy and daunting medical bills, Friedman and her fiancé finally tied the knot on July 22.
While the bride and her family were preparing for the wedding, Toyota and Braun, one of the leading manufacturers of wheelchair-accessible van conversions, lent Friedman a vehicle to help out. Before that, her mother had to carry her in and out of the family’s SUV. What Friedman didn’t know was that Toyota was planning to surprise the newlyweds with an accessible Sienna Rampvan of their very own.
The new vehicle has opened up a new level of comfort and independence, and Friedman says that she can’t wait to learn to drive on her own next. While most of us would have a hard time facing Friedman’s reality, the young woman has maintained a positive outlook throughout her ordeal that’s as inspirational as it is amazing.

At times compared to a Lexus, from the outside the Toyota Avalon might be a bland looking four-door, but on the inside the combination of luxurious roominess, safety, ride comfort and value you wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere. The Avalon emerged as one of the 10 best cars sold in North American in terms of problem-free operation in a recent J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. Originally based on the platform of the then-current Toyota Camry, the Toyota Avalon is a full-size car that was produced by Toyota in the U.S. and Australia. The Avalon was produced as a front wheel drive four-door sedan.
When the Toyotta Cressida was deleted from the American car market in 1992 and the Toyota Avalon was designed to fill the gap left by that vehicle. Though the Cressida was a midsize, rear wheel drive vehicle, the all new Avalon was a full size, rear wheel drive car and had Toyota’s 1MZ-FE V6 engine, compared to the Cressida’s 7M-GE I6 engine.

COVERKING® – Custom Car Bra
